A word from our man GUY........

Well I'm in the rural woods in PA.
No cell coverage.
Just got the laptop from Kathy in the mail.
I have limited internet access. piggybacking off the neighbors wireless internet for now.

Hoping to get hooked up next week.

Grandma is working on 93, still gets around but very limited.
My uncle Dion has brain, lung and kidney cancer. Sad to say but they give him less than a year. truthfully, maybe much less.

Hoping to get the family leave thing from Colsa, doesn't cover Uncle's...just parents/grandparents/brothers/sisters...

Been running to a lot of appts.
Working with Veterans affairs for his monthly disability check, VA hospital for meds and consult, done to the Radiation treatments in Elmira NY daily and still working on getting a Chemo appt.; no results yet from the lung biopsy. We maybe running to Rochester for the Chemo....long drive and very long day.

Tell all the guys that I miss them and WNBP. I'm hoping to hit a cash game next week if I'm lucky.

I'll start sending more info.

UPDATE... From Kathy......2:30 PM Monday, 3-2-2009

Hi Everyone,

Guy had to call an ambulance to take Grandmother Church to back to the hospital Sunday morning (remember she went last Sunday morning too). Guy thought he had lost her a couple of times. She had passed out and when she came to, she had severe stomach pains. The doctor gave her morphine every 3 hours yesterday. The doctor thinks she may have some sort of obstruction between the stomach and the intestines. She is in the hospital right now and we are awaiting the results of some test they did on the stomach. She is feeling better today and she is aware of her situation. She is still on pain killers (not morphine), oxygen, and she can't eat so they are giving her an IV. She is in good spirits.

Guy's Uncle Dion is out of the hospital and is taking radiation treatments every day (Mon-Fri). He is diabetic and Guy was having to give him insulin shots but Uncle Dion's blood sugar has leveled off and he is back on the pills instead of the shots. His short term memory is suffering. His friends are taking him to most of his treatments. Guy takes him when they have to travel for an appointment with the Veterans Admin.

Guy has the paperwork for the Family Leave of Absence from work but Grandmother Church's doctor has to fill it out. Hopefully, he will have time to get the forms to the doctor and COLSA will approve his leave. Guy does have access to the Internet now and he would love to have emails. He feels a little isolated and overwhelmed.

March 5.....

Hi Everyone,

Uncle Dion has completed all of his radiation treatments. All the treatments went fine and Dion did not have any adverse reactions to it. He has an appointment to meet with the chemo therapy doctor on Monday.

Guy has been handling all the paperwork with the VA and that is going well too. Grandma Church went back to the hospital in an ambulance on Sunday morning. They thought she had a tumor between the stomach and the intestines but the test did not show a tumor. They think there is inflamation and infection caused by her stomach virus that is causing the blockage. She is on antibotics and some pain medication. She is quite alert and aware of what is happening.
We don't know when she will be able to go home.

Good news, COLSA approved Guy's 3 months of Family and Medical Leave (FMLA). Michelle is on spring break and she gave up a week at the beach to be with her family in PA. She is going to help her Dad take care of Grandma and Uncle Dion. Guy is very happy to have her there.
